ADHD in girls can be often overlooked.
Diagnosing ADD and ADHD in Girls by Maureen Connelly and
Girls and ADHD: Are You Missing the Signs? by Caralee Adams, both describe some frequently occurring behaviours that may be helpful to look for.

Another great book is "Understanding Girls with ADHD" by Nadeau, Littman, & Quinn. So much of what these girls struggle with relate to self-regulatory behaviours. And many of them are diagnosed late as the onset of puberty and hormonal changes can bring it forward. There is also a lot of research around dopamine levels and menstrual cycles - the possible reason why medication isn't always effective for these girls because dopamine levels fluctuate so much! Would love to chat more about this with you, Carla!
